Surgery Update

Well, we left the house this morning around 6:30 a.m. and got Ian checked in for surgery.  Fortunately, they had a TV in the pre-op room so he was able to watch Mickey Mouse Club and stay occupied.  The nurses were super sweet and they took him right at 8 a.m.  We went out to the lobby for just a few minutes and then they paged us and it was over - literally, it took less than 20 minutes.  We met with Dr. Goforth and he said that all they found was a narrowing of the trachea below the vocal chords.  He thinks this could be leading to the noisy breathing and non-stop cough.  The good thing is that they think they found the cause; the bad thing is that there isn't really anything they can do about it ... The Dr. is going to put a call into MUSC just to make sure, but since it's more annoying than anything else (i.e. doesn't cause cyanotic episodes), they will probably just watch it over time with the expectation that he'll outgrow it!

Thanks for everyone's prayers!  Now, we have to decide what we are going to do about his circumcision.  It's currently scheduled for March 11, but I hate to put him through that ... but then I worry about him needing it for some medical reason when he's older and that would be SSSOOOO much worse!  So, pray that we'll figure it out :-)

Have a great weekend!  So far, no throwing up today for anyone :-) My fingers are cramping, though, they are crossed so hard :-)

Love,
Jennifer
