Christmas Tree Adventure

Our brother-in-law, Glenn, grew up in Nicholson, GA, just outside of Commerce, GA.  There were 7 children and all of their names started with the letter G ... so today, we journeyed south to Glenn's homestead, also known as 7 G's Farm (www.7gfarm.com), to pick out the most wonderful Christmas tree we could find.  The place was packed and it was bbrrrr cold; but, the adventure was great.  We went shopping in Commerce first, then grabbed lunch, and then went to the farm.

And we were certainly not the only ones with the idea - they were hustling and bustling and it was great to see (you know how much I love to see capitalism working at its finest)!  I picked out a 9' tree and gave Stewart the honor of cutting it down with the nice handsaw they provided.  One of the workers mentioned a chain-saw but Stewart would have none of that!  Anyway, here are some pictures from our adventure!

Just starting out on our adventure!  The kids had on cute little reindeer shirts - but there was no chance their coats were coming off to show them off!  It was 40 degrees out there!  Yikes!
She was very serious about the whole experience!
Man, oh, man ... is that Stewart trying to find the bottom of a Christmas tree?
I forgot to take a picture of the tree falling ... luckily there was someone there to catch it!  Ian loved watching his daddy act like "Handy Manny"!
The journey back to the car ... of course, this is before both children wanted me to hold them!

All and all, we had a great time!  I hope it will be another long list of traditions that will continue in our household for many years to come!  We have more adventures planned this week - I mean, there are just so many ways to celebrate this wonderful season and I don't want to miss out on any of it!  I guess I will need to take a little break from all the fun and get this new tree decorated, though - I'm leaning towards hot pink and lime green this year ... of course, I'm way behind the 8 ball so who knows what will become of it!  I'll definitely post some pictures once it's complete!
