Water Play Day at School

The EE3 classes enjoyed Water Play Day on Friday.  It was a little chilly outside but that didn't stop all the children from having a great time!  They had bubbles out, swimming pools filled up, a couple of sprinklers, and some sensory tables with water toys loaded up.  Here are some pictures from the fun!  I hope that your weekend has been as blessed as ours ... the weather is beautiful and we have so much to be thankful for on this day and everyday!

My 2 Little Princesses

This video is back from January and it's pretty long but it's so funny!  I bought Bonner some new dress-up shoes because both of her old pairs broke ... well, needless to say, dress-up shoes are made for girls & boys these days!  Enjoy!

Bonner Horse Back Riding

Finally got some videos uploaded tonight!  Here is Bonner riding the horse on the school field trip a couple of weeks ago.  So proud of her!!

EE3 Teachers' Gifts

I served as the Room Coordinator this year for Mrs. Neely and Mrs. Greer's class and thoroughly enjoyed it.  In the midst of everything else going on, it gave me something to do - something to keep busy - and much joy to spend time with those precious children!  So as the school year has come to an end, I wanted to do something special for the 2 teachers ... and let me just say that the project sounded much better on paper :-)

I bought flower pots at a local pottery shop and took them to the classroom armed with 4 colors of paint.  Each child used their thumb prints to make either a frog or a lady bug.  I then took the pots back to the shop and painted the frog faces, lady bugs, children's names, teacher's name, year, etc. on each of them.

A week later, I picked them up and they looked like this :-)

And while they turned out so cute, as I was admiring my work, I realized that I totally misspelled the lead teacher's name - Mrs. Neely is NOT spelled Mrs. Neeley ... but it is on this flower pot :-)  Just par for the course these days!  Let's hope she isn't too upset tomorrow when the children present them to her tomorrow for the year-end Water Day!

A Glimpse Into Our Day

I just had to document this funness!

"Mommy, will you take a picture of me with my Toy Story friends and my Toy Story blanket?"

"Oh mom, we forgot Woody!"

"And Bullseye needs to be in it!"

"Bonner, do you want to be in my picture?"
"Sure, Ian!"

"I need Abby!"

Ian: "Oh mom, my Chuggington friends need to meet my Toy Story friends!"
Bonner just jumped in the picture and thought it was hilarious!

Ian: "And my favorite bunny!"
Bonner: "Take a picture of Ian and I will sneak in again!"

I kid you not - after I took all these pictures, Bonner actually asked me, "Mommy, what is film?"  I thought to myself - "It's what we used to use to capture these crazy pictures - thank goodness, we don't have that anymore!"

Bonner-Lingo
  • "Ready, Steady, Go!" (instead of Ready, Set, Go)
  • Me: "Do you think you can spell D-O-G?" I coaxed her by sounding out the letters and she said, "D" - "O" - "G"!  I excitedly replied, "Bonner, that's great, you just spelled DOG!" She said, "Well, then let's spell PUPPY!"
  • "I can read this book, mom!  It's called The Very Hungry Callapitter" (instead of Caterpillar)
  • Bonner: "Mommy, can I help you make the sandwiches?" Me: "Sure!" Bonner" "When I grow up, I want to be a mommy that makes sandwiches!"
Ian-isms
  • Bonner had a runny nose so I was giving her some medicine one day.  Ian said, "I need some medicine, too, mommy.  I have the 'achoo's'!"
  • The children have been playing school together alot lately and I just think it's really funny that Ian puts on the high-heeled shoes and calls himself "Mrs. Neely!"
  • Ian: "Why can't we see Jesus, mommy!"  Me: "Well, Ian, he lived many years ago and died on the cross for us, remember?  Now he is in heaven!"  Ian: "How did he get to heaven?"  Me: "God, his father, took him out of the tomb, remember?"  Ian, obviously not satisfied with my proper answer said, "I think God sent a cloud down to him and he rode the cloud back up to heaven!"
  • Ian asked, "How did God make us?"  Bonner replied, "He just gave us a head and a body and arms and legs and feet and socks!"
  • Ian was in the bathtub the other day and he did not want me to wash his hair just yet but he wanted more water in the bathtub.  I said, "Ian, you have 2 options: 1) I can wash your hair and give you more water or 2) Gigi can wash your hair in a few minutes and give you some more water. I'll let you think about it while I check on your sister."  I returned and asked him what his decision was, "Mom, I have a great idea, you give me more water and then Gigi can wash my hair.  You need to learn to share!"  (Nice reasoning from a 3 year old)
  • Ian has this little Melissa and Doug wooden boy that he can dress up with all the sports outfits.  He had it out the other night and he asked me, "Mommy, what does he need to play cocky?" (aka "hockey")
  • Ian slipped tonight putting on his pajamas and his knee came down on a little plastic Elmo.  He immediately asked for a bandaid so I got one (placebo).  After I put it on his knee, he said, "Mommy, I changed my mind.  I don't want to be a Cowboy when I grow up, I want to be a dentist and help people's knees!"  I said, "Ian, dentists look at your teeth and doctors look at your knee." He said, "I just switched it up!"

First Official Field Trip

This morning, the children's class went on a field to a local horse farm.  We had a lot of fun ...

...feeding the hens, the chickens, and the rooster!
 ...petting the rooster - Cocka-doodle-doo!
 ...petting the baby lamb, Larry!
 ...petting the baby goat, Snow!
...listening to Mrs. Debbie talk about horse safety!
...brushing the horses!  (That's Bonner in the purple shirt - she was very focused!
...and riding the horse!  Bonner LOVED it!

When I asked Ian why he didn't want to the ride the horse, he said, "The horse will make me 'achoo', mommy, so I just can't."  When his teacher asked him later on why he didn't want to ride the horse, he said, "The horse was going too slow!"

After the field trip, the children and I headed to the park to burn off some more energy!
 "Cheese!"

The other night, I had the stool out so the kids could scrub their hands after being outside.  Bonner said, "Mommy, will you take our picture on the stool?"  One of the few pictures I have taken recently where both kiddos are looking at me!  I just love it!

And here are a few more pictures from our beach trip!  I found them when I plugged my other camera in and just couldn't resist getting them captured here in the blog!
I can only imagine what they are talking about in the picture above or below but I just love them both!

And this is a tired little girl after a long day on the beach :-)

We have a busy weekend planned and I hope to get a couple of videos from this week posted soon!  Have a terrific day!

Beach Trip

I have updated the blog quite a bit tonight ... finally, I've had a chance to get all my cameras and computer in one place.  When I am at home recently, I am just trying to clean up and organize and get things rearranged, etc.  So blogging just doesn't get the priority like it used to ... but I have a renewed outlook on life!  I am slowly but surely coming out of the "out of body" experience I feel like I have been living in for the past year and I am super excited about it!  So last weekend, I didn't have the children and these were the 2 exciting things that I did/happened :-)

I got these cords from this condition....

to this one!
It might not seem like alot but there have been Saturdays in the past year when simply getting out of bed was an accomplishment - to actually get something done felt great :-)

And then on Sunday, I came in from running some errands to quickly change clothes and head back out to the gym.  When I came bouncing out of the house ready to get my sweat on, I came upon this little fellow ... almost stepped right on him :-)
All I can say is THANK GOODNESS for Boy Scout neighbors!  They scooped him right up!  He was taller than the boy in this picture, Jack, our sweet neighbor :-)  Crazy!

One day this week, the children and I ran to the post office which is in the Ace Hardware.  We needed some flowers for our front porch pots so the children and I decided to look around.  I thought it was hysterical when I turned my head around and found Woody and Abby in the birdbath.  When I asked the children what "their friends" were doing, they replied, "Watching TV!"  Oh yes, exactly what I thought!

On Wednesday of this week, the children and I headed to our favorite place in the world, the beach!  It's our week for the condo so I thought we could come down and enjoy a few days.  We got here about 5 p.m. and Ian and Bonner wanted to get out to the beach as fast we could.  They were thrilled to be back in their favorite sandbox :-)

Today, we walked out to the beach about 12:15 p.m. in our raincoats carrying our umbrellas.  We had waited all morning to see if the rain would "blow over" ... eventually, I just lost the battle and could hold them back from the sandbox no longer.  I wish I had gotten a picture of them in their raincoats carrying their umbrellas (rumor has it that I will have the same chance tomorrow so I'll try to have the camera ready)!  Bonner was in her bathing suit with her gown over it ...

Ian just insisted on his pajamas :-)

So when the sun finally came out about 2 p.m., Bonner was ready and Ian just settled for his undies :-)  Unfortunately, there was no one else on the beach for me to ask to watch them while I ran up to get his bathing suit ... but he was fine with it :-)  And I must say that they had an absolute blast playing in the tidal pools and "sitting the waves"!

Silly time at dinner tonight!

After dinner, I didn't even notice that the music had changed (for a split second) from the speaker music to a live 2-person "band" so as we were leaving, Ian asked me, "Mommy, I want to hear the band and dance.  Can we stay?"  When I finally confirmed with our waitress that there was, in fact, a band, I just laughed.  We stayed for 2 songs and he danced non-stop!  So funny!  That child LOVES music more than any child I have ever seen!

Bonner-Lingo
- Bonner: "Mom, you always don't wear pretty shirts."  Me: "I know, Bonner.  Sometimes I just have on a t-shirt.  I like this green one I have on today."  Bonner: "Are you getting ready for another St. Patrick's Day?"
- After saying her prayers one night, I reminded Bonner to stay in her bed for the night so she could get a sticker on her chart.  She replied, "God will help me!"
- Bonner: "Mommy, you forgot to get me some make-up!" Me: "Oh, I did?"  Bonner: "Yes, but sometimes I just sneak into your bathroom, use yours a little, and put it back."
- "Mommy, I want to lemonade the flowers."  (It took me a minute to realize that she was drinking lemonade and wanted to WATER the flowers)
- Me: "If there are 4 people singing a song, it's called a quartet."  Bonner: "And if there are 5 people singing a song, it's called a five-tet."
- After getting some ocean water on her lips today, she said, "Mommy, it tastes like sugar!"
- "Mom, can you hold this for me?  I don't have enough hands.  I need more like an octopus!"
- "Emma and Libby are big.  But when we get 5, we'll be bigger and then we'll be 8 and even bigger."  Ian simply said, "Or we could just stay this size!" (Man, that little guy is smart!)
- "We could build a sand castle and call it Ian, Bonner, Mommy, and Abby's castle!"

Ian-isms
- (Back to the make-up issue)  Ian brought me my makeup one day and said, "Mommy, Bonner was using your make-up."  She came walking in the bathroom, stomped her foot, crossed her arms, and said, "Ian, I told you not to tell mommy!"  (Oh my, I have my hands full!)
- I told them one day that we could go to Moe's for lunch and Ian said, "Let's go to Moe's because we learned about Baby Moe's at school!"
- "Mom, I want to drive a truck so I can build stuff!"
