Easter Party at School

The children thoroughly enjoy their school, Southside Christian, and I must say that I am tremendously blessed that we can call it home for our school experience!  In our current situation, I am so blessed to know that they are getting all the reinforcement of how much God loves them every day they are there.  Easter time is special, of course, and both Ian and Bonner can tell you the Easter story, from the soldiers that "were very, very mean to Jesus" to the "crown of thorns" to the "holes in his hands" to the "stone that they pushed away, mommy!" to the fantastic "tomb that was empty".  They know it all!  In fact, I ran into a friend's mother at the toy story just before Easter and she asked me what the Easter bunny was bringing to the children.  I replied that I wasn't a big fan of the Easter bunny at this point and that I preferred to focus on the "reason for the season"!  She quickly said, "Well, you can't really talk about Easter in religious terms if you don't talk about the resurrection and I just don't think that your children are old enough to understand it!"  Hmm, I thought - well, they might not understand the exact "reason for the season" but they totally get the resurrection!  I smiled from ear to ear just thinking to myself that "they get it"... I'll get off the soap box, but I truly am blessed that Ian and Bonner want to know about God, about Jesus, about them living in our hearts, about Heaven, about everything Christian!

Okay, sorry for the tangent ... the children had a wonderful Easter party at school.  It started with resurrection bread (I wish I had taken pictures) ... I'm going to document it here so I'll have it for the future
1) Take refrigerated crescent rolls and break them apart
2) Fold a marshmallow into the crescent roll
3) Brush it with melted butter
4) Sprinkle cinnamon/sugar over the top and close the edges good
5) Bake according to the package directions
VOILA - when you open up the crescent, the marshmallow is gone - represents Jesus in the tomb!  How cool is that!

Here is Ian's table waiting patiently for their resurrection bread snack :-)
Left-hand side: Ian, Amelia, Porter
Right-hand side: Katie, Marialice, Jackson

Here's Bonner's table (she and Ian are back-to-back)
Left-hand side: Jack, Charlie, Sarah Grace
Right-hand side: Bonner, Addison, Kayleigh

Each child brought in 12 eggs for searching ... the children each made an "Easter bag" for their treats.  Here is Bonner "off to the races" to find some eggs ...

When I couldn't find her, I knew immediately where to look ... this girl LOVES some sand!

And this is just about the cutest thing that ever stepped on that playground :-)

Happy Easter!
